Hi Peepers…

another week another pasty.

This week I have been mostly hanging with Ninjas and recovering from a killer weekend in Italy and Norway.  My set from Jaeger in Oslo is here…

AND

And finally our new Freaks record is out on Rebirth. Title We Move, and out now exclusively on Beatport

Cataclysmic mind control (includes a free song and party poppers) and…Mother Rose exclusive on Weatherall’s 6 Live show tomoz night….

Hi!

So I have returned from my American adventure with a stetson, a new mind and some new boots. My adventure began in Chicago, led me to Miami where I witnessed the possible beginnings of the end of the world, and then on to Austin<Texas. My first visit to such a great city, and boy was it fun. Classic stormed Kingdom nightclub with music, dancing and a huge amount of comedy…I then returned to Chicago for some R N R and a whole stack of unseasonal sunshine. I am now back in sunny Barnet, mowing the lawn, painting the fences and trying to get my ears to pop.

As it is a glorious day I thought I would furnish you all with a free hi resolution unreleased instrumental of a remix. It’s unmastered but playable. Either dig it or don’t dig it…it’s yours anyway.

In other news. My new project with Andy Neal under the guise of “Mother Rose ” is getting a world exclusive on Andrew Weatherall’s 6 Live show, tomorrow night at 10PM UK time. He will be playing our cover of the Rolling Stones ” Paint it Black” (yes really) which will be released on single #2. Single#1 will be in selective stores Monday week. Here is a song from EP #1

Mother Rose and the great British Tarragon shortage

So the end is nigh. Due to extreme weather conditions we are face with a shortage of not only water, but Tarragon too…This country really is falling apart at the seams….

This week, apart from lamenting the great Tarragon shortage, I have been mostly decorating. I also managed to get a hot minute in the studio to add more music to my collaboration with Nashville singer extraordinaire ,”Terry Grant.”

I also managed to go and see Simple Minds perform 5×5, which, I must say, was really rather magnificent…So good to see a 53 year old man not just going through the motions, but actually pouring his heart and soul into some really fucking great music. And before all you haters out there shout “Simple Mind’s, are you mental,” do a little research, before you shout “All the Things she said.”

Mr postman also brought me this…

Disco Bloodbath,B@TV, mental flu bidness and no more Daime bars at Ikea…

Well I have just about recovered from a rather extravagant, but really rather awesome night in Leeds that was accompanied by a Snub Nosed Gun fashioned out of a piece of ginger followed by a return to London, and then 2 days in bed feeling more poorly than I did the week before…So, basically this week went out of the window until today. Today has consisted of my preparing for Saturday nights gig at Disco Bloodbath where I have dug deep into the vinyl collection, but was cut short whilst having a Savage Progress moment, when some busy little worker bee cut through a cable in Clifford road, which in turn, muted the studio. Being left in the complete pitch black with out a torch, I sat for 45 minutes contemplating my own navel. I was shocked out of my rather odd day dream by a return to power and a massively loud record blasted into my earholes at the wrong speed.

So the short of it is. I am at Disco Bloodbath on Saturday which is at Passion in N16.

Other than that, and apart from my general failing body, I have also lost the ability to cook food after experimenting with shrimp paste for the first time. On initial opening of the the jar and trying to pair the smell, I proceeded to follow instructions. All the while my brain was telling me that I have been some place before with a similar smell.  30 minutes of cooking, it clicked. Fish food. I decided to stop cooking and place contents in the bin. Remind me never to buy shrimp paste again.

Also, much to everyone’s sadness, Ikea no longer sell them mini Daime Bars, and have replaced them with an Own Brand inferior product.

That’s all for now. I am off for a 20 mile run around the inside of my own mind.

you can catch me on DJ Mags B@TV tonight at 6PM GMT for some music too

Also out now on Vinyl only

Moxa this Friday, the Old Grey Whistle test and mother fudging squirrels, Oh, and OxO cubes….

Hi. So. This weekend. Moxa in Mantova. Also. Did you know, the Old Grey Whistle Test is named such because…When DJ’s received test pressings and played them in a club, if the bouncers whistled along to the song, it was sure to be a hit…or something…I had no idea…Also, ever had problems opening those damn silver OXO packets…well, stress no longer. Simply crush the cube before opening to form a square packet which you simply tear along the top. And. Finally. We have a squirrel infestation. Which is like an ant infestation but with added nuts. That’s all. Love you , miss you. x

Oh and. I have a new remix out. All the info here

Vote for me, win a cow, Portsmouth, X Factor for DJ’s and anal probing…..

Hi peepers

This week I was informed that Simon Cowell is starting X Factor for DJ’s. After 5 minutes of stomping round the house loudly and shouting down the phone, I calmed down momentarily.

Sadly, I feel that the end of DJing as it was once known, is coming to an end. DJ’s are now rock stars, and therefore need to be treated differently. They also get to stand in front of a panel of DJ’s (my guess Guetta, Cowell and Chris Moyles,) and perform for 60 minutes. They will then be judged on their mixing ability, keying music, and selection of  records. NOT. Hopefully their anuses will be connected to a massive electric current, and every time they mess up, they receive a tremendous shock, rendering themselves incapable of speaking, let alone pressing play on a laptop. One can only wish…

In reality I am sure they will be judged on their ability to hold both arms above their own heads.

In other news I shall be DJing in Portsmouth this Saturday  details here and I have been nominated for an award in France for my album “The Difference Engine”…not sure of the details and I may well win some kind of medal, but in order to do that I need votes….you can vote for me here VOTE FOR ME

Anyway. It’s Friday. I’m off to the pub

Days in the Life # 3

Since I last wrote I have been continuing my abstinence from online distraction. The longer I leave it the easier it gets. I feel like I am living in a world where I no longer know everything about everything. That came to light last week during the Stop on Line Piracy protests. I was delighted to find that Megaupload had been taken down, so delighted that I forwarded my delight to a friend who is very much still on Twitter. He told me that Twitter had been alight with masses of opinions by gazillions of people all varying in shapes and sizes. My first reaction was a breath of relief. Those are the Twitter and Facebook moments that I have grown to dread, and I am so glad to be away from it. My blood pressure is stable. Instead I have had discussions with like minded souls who are relatively on the same page, but who also have slight difference in opinions.  I was forwarded a couple of great articles alongside the Ben Watt/Robert Levine interview. Two of which you can read here

In other news I have had my head buried in finishing Mother Rose.
